Muletown Pizza

This past Saturday, I was in Columbia, Tennessee shopping at a few of my favorite stores.  Columbia is full of great food, which makes it difficult to decide what to eat for lunch.  The United Farm and Home Co-Op has a great gift shop, so I decided to stop there before heading home.  When I arrived, I noticed a food truck I'd never tried sitting in the parking lot.  I have seen Muletown Pizza's food truck (https://www.muletownpizza.com/) on social media and knew it was a popular business.  What a following they have! Do not be fooled by the lack of a long line for their food.  They are so popular in the community, people called in orders to pick up and continuously showed up to get their food.  When I ordered, they were very busy making pies for all the to-go orders that had been placed.  The food was well worth the wait! I chose the "Create Your Own" pizza option and had a cheese pizza with their house roasted chicken.  This is definitely a food truck I plan to visit in the future. The wood-fired crust and shredded pieces of chicken made for a fantastic pizza.  The pizza sauce was full of flavor, not too tart and not too sweet. I'm excited to try their cheesy bread, next time.  Check out their social media pages to see where they'll be set up next!

Tennessee Tatercakes

My husband and I visit Cheekwood Estate &  Gardens (https://cheekwood.org/) every spring for their Cheekwood in Bloom event.  Thousands of gorgeous flowers are on display throughout the gardens.  Whenever the site has a big event, they typically call in a couple food trucks for visitors to enjoy for lunch.  I was so excited when we arrived because one of my favorite food trucks was there! I first tried Tennessee Tatercakes (https://www.facebook.com/tennesseetatercakes/) at the Wilson County Fair in 2019 and had been wanting their food again ever since.

Melt Bar

Earlier this week, my husband and I decided to make our annual visit to the Williamson County Fair in Franklin, Tennessee.  We like this fair because it's smaller, but has a lot of great food and we enjoy checking out all the food and quilt entries of locals who want to win in various categories.  When we arrived it was close to dinner time so we started to walk through the food options outside.  I had seen the Melt Bar (https://www.facebook.com/feelingcheesy/) out of the corner of my eye and decided to take a closer look at their menu.  Everything looked so good! I asked the owner what he recommended and he said to go with the "Meat Lovers Pizza Melt." In my opinion, you can never go wrong with what the owners recommend! It had cheese, bacon, shredded ham, and pizza sauce.  I opted out of the pepperoni that came with it for extra bacon.  While I waited for my food, I thought I would be receiving a traditionally shaped meat lovers pizza.  However, when the owner called my name to pick up my food, it was in sandwich form! This was the perfect fair food because it was easy to handle, not hard to eat while walking around, and tasted amazing.  The fresh ingredients and toasty, cheesy bread tasted like the best flavors of a traditional pizza without the greasy mess.  If you're in the area be sure and check them out because they're based in Ohio and are not always in the area.  Follow them on Facebook to see where they'll be next!

The Tennessee Cobbler Co.

Sometimes people ask me where to find the best dessert in the area.  Without hesitation, I always say the Tennessee Cobbler Co (https://www.tncobblerco.com/home).  They have the best of all things cobbler, which is no small feat in the southeastern United States! I was first introduced to their food truck when I was working an event at my previous job.  I love all things peach, so I immediately knew I'd found a good thing.  Many restaurants offer cobbler on their menu throughout the South, but not everyone gets it right.  The Tennessee Cobbler Co. knows what they're doing.  They offer several different flavors of cobbler, ice cream to top them with, and a selection of ways to eat your cobbler such as in a cup, cone, or shake.  In the past few years, they also introduced a hands-free tea that hangs from a lanyard with a straw so you can have your sweet tea and still have your hands free!

The Rolling Recipe

During my annual visit to Cheekwood in Bloom at Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville, I found an amazing food truck that you're going to want to try.  The Rolling Recipe (The Rolling Recipe)  had a huge line, and I knew that was a sign for me to join it and see what made it so popular.  I ordered the grilled four cheese mac & cheese on seared sourdough and I added smokey chicken.  This is a fantastic sandwich with delicious mac & cheese and smoked chicken coated in bbq sauce. The bread was a combination of crispy and soft with a tangy sweet bbq chicken with cheesy noodles that paired beautifully together. Follow the Rolling Recipe on social media and see where they'll be next!

Bradley's Creamery

During our visit to Cheekwood during their Cheekwood in Bloom event, I noticed an ice cream truck that looked intriguing.  Bradley's Creamery (Bradley's Creamery (bradleyscreamery.com)) was set up near the mansion with a line that was continuous but didn't make people wait long.  It's not long after paying that they have your order ready, which is hard to do with so many orders happening back to back.  Their ice cream is homemade and their combinations of flavors, award winning.  I chose the mint chocolate chip and coffee ice creams in a waffle cone which is one of my favorite combos.  It was refreshing and creamy, ten times better than anything you'll find in the grocery stores. There's something about homemade ice cream and meeting the people who make it that really makes the experience special.  You'll just have to try it for yourself to understand.  My husband tried their fan favorite, "White Trash" float which was a combination of orange dreamsicle and Mountain Dew soda.  The staff was very friendly, willing to answer questions, and quick! Check out their website to see where you can find them for a cool treat this summer!
